Charles Haddon Spurgeon, born in 1834, was a Baptist minister in Great Britain. He was famous for his preaching skills and, from the time he was a young man, attracted thousands of people to hear his sermons. A prolific author, Spurgeon's published sermons were very popular. He held strict Calvinistic views and, therefore, alienated himself from some Baptist ministers. Despite his controversial views, he remained a popular speaker.
